Na Garbh-lochanan - (The) rough water lochs. MacLeod translates as the same. 4920 7455

Na Garbh-lochanan No. 1- A winter view on 1 January 2004 from the summit of Beinn a’ Chaolais looking down onto the near-frozen lochs, or lochanan, the major one being seen just left of centre at the image’s bottom. This image is part of a series of images captued by Mr. Arra Fletcher of Islay using a Canon analogue camera, then scanned by Dr. Gary McKay to create a partial panorama. This image and the following image, "Imir an Aonach", are the only two analogue images used in the entire project, a testimony to the extraordinary quality of the image and the perserverance of the photographer. The snow-covered peak in the centre is Beinn an Oir, while the peak on the right side of the image is the last of the three great Paps, Beinn Shiantaidh.
