You saw it here first! The first community in the Southern Hebrides to publish their own CD!  A compendium of EVERYTHING you ever wanted to know about the Ardfarnal and Knockcrome crofting landscape, complete with maps, photographs, movies, legends, environmental information, geology, geography-even an astronomy map for star-gazing!  So order a copy and support the efforts of the Knockrome-Ardfarnal Common Grazing Committee (KAGC) as they carry on the tradition of being Jura's oldest continously inhabited farming landscape!

Its out!  The must have CDROM or DVDROM for serious fans or researchers of the Isle of Jura, "The Gaelic Landscape of Jura".  The product of an epic 3 and 1/2 year landscape photographic campaign by Dr. Gary McKay of FSC, which generated over 46,000 raw images, can be yours to enjoy in the comfort of your home and is an enhanced version of the free web edition.  This photographic gazeteer progresses from the top of the island to the bottom, left to right, and takes in all 985 place names contained on the British Ordnance Survey's 1:25,000 scale map (Explorer 355).  Each web page includes a place name translation, Ordnance Survey grid reference (so use in your research of course!) and a topographic description of the image scene.  Running in a browser format, one may search from the master index list, or move forwards or backwards along the OS grid rows.  Several editions are available based on your computer's capabilities or your research needs.  At present the following editions are available:

CDROM Ver. 1 - Contains 320x240 resolution browse images on each individual web page, plus translations.  Price: 15 pounds (30 dollars).

CDROM Ver. 2 - Contains 320X240 resolution browse images on each web page with 640 x480 resolution images behind each clickable browse image, plus translations.  Price: 30 pounds (60 dollars).

DVDROM Ver. 1 - Contains 640X480 browse images on each web page with unlimited resolution images behind each clickable browse image, plus translations.  The unlimited resolution images range from 1.2 megapixel up to 8 megapixel in resolution.  Price:  50 pounds (100 dollars).

DVDROM RESEARCH EDITION -  Available by license only this collection contains hundreds of massive landscape panoramas and thousands of images as well as the 640X480 web browse images with translations.  This collection is by license only and entitles the licensee to upgrades of imagery and information as it becomes available.  No other landscape in the entire United Kingdom has this extensive a coverage.  Price: 2,000 pounds (4,000 dollars).

The Kilearnadil Cemetary Graves Inventory  (Rel. 18 Jan 2005) -  A comprehensive inventory of the graves contained within the Kilearnadil (Cille Earnadail) cemetary based on a report created by the 1996 Duke of Edinburgh expedition to Jura.  The CDROM contains the original report and hand-drawn maps.  Feolin Study Centre includes several high resolution images of the famous carved grave slabs of the Buies, dating to the 13th century, as well as one panoramic image suitable for high-quality printing.  Price: 15 pounds (30 dollars).
