Oceanography

Bágh na Gíall, north Jura

Since the Isle of Jura is well, an island, we thought it was high time to add an oceanography page.  Unfortunately, there's not a lot of information out there on the Digital Sea of the Internet about our area, but we'll catch as much of it as we can for you here...

Data -

British Oceanographic Data Centre  -  The home of the UK government's primary ocean research centre.

Cambridge Coastal Research Unit  -  You might be able to get some public access data from these folks about the Hebrides...

Centre for Marine and Coastal Zone Management -  Based at Aberdeen University, site looks impressive, but again, where's the useful data...again, you might be able to get some public access data.

NOAA -  US National Oceanographiv and Atmospheric Administration, lots of links and data for all the world's oceans and seas.

Global Topographic and Bathymetric Interactive Map -  Good for major features...

Fisheries and Aquaculture, United Nations -  At least the United Nations knows about the west of Scotland!

SNH  -  Want to see how your money was managed and mis-managed by Scottish Natural recently?  Click and be amazed?

Ferry services and climate change  -  Well, well, the report that dare not be too public...yes, what does happen when the weather gets too bad for ferries to supply their "lifeline" services to the Hebrides?  Read on...
